Version 1.04 Release Notes - Big Initiative Changes


Changelog:

  1. Classes
    1. Fixed typo in thief skill description
    2. Made thief class explicitly optional
    3. Made "shields shall be splintered" a general rule, not a fighter class ability
    4. Made "cleave" fighter ability work with all weapons, not just great weapons
  2. Weapons
    1. Added "Notes" section to weapons and armor tables and moved special rules there
    2. Renamed "reach weapons" to spears
    3. Gave spears first strike instead of "second rank" ability to fit with new initiative rules
    4.  Changed arrow depletion to be a per-fight 1-in-6 check (still have ammo left on a 2+)
    5. Hand weapons and torches can be thrown
    6. Removed die-based ammo depletion to just count shots, with a 5-in-6 chance (2+) to recover an arrow after firing.
  3. Equipment and Hirelings
    1. Fixed typo in shovel and pickaxe dig rates
    2. Added spearman hireling
    3. Gave horse archers move and missile fire ability
  4. Reworked initiative and surprise to be more like OD&D and Chainmail and use phases.
